YAMADONGA IS A GOOD ENTERTAINER FOR THE FRONT-BENCHERS, BUT WHAT IS SO NEW ABOUT IT?

It takes guts to make a movie based on Yamalokam, especially when everyone of us is familiar with such themes. First it was the Senior NTR, who essayed a phenomenal performance as the odd man out in Yamalokam, in Yamagola, so much so, that it has gone on to become a milestone in Telugu cinema. Later S V KRishna Reddy managed to recreate the magic with Ali in Yamaleela. Of course, it turned out to be a xeroxed version of the original with the mother sentiment thrown in. In between, Chiranjeevi too did his own version of the theme which became a runaway success. And now director S S Rajamouli treads the beaten track with Junior NTR as the man who has Yama Dharmaraju in a fix. And, we must say, it was a good effort on the part of Rajamouli to dish out an out-and-out entertainer.

Like all themes go, there is not much to talk about the theme. Death plays the villain in the life of Raja, who is unable to cash in on his big theft, as the guy who gets the job done is dead before he can pay NTR his reward. So, he starts cursing Yama Dharmaraja, who decides to right the wrongs.

And so goes the movie. An entertainer, it has some phenomenal dialogues between Mohan Babu and Junior NTR. The film has some wonderful graphic wonders which bring about the two NTRs -- the junior and senior -- in one sequence. It is an amazing effort, and the film will be talked about more for this than for anything else.

Then there are the ladies -- the more the merrier seems to be Rajamouli's policy -- to add that glam quotient to the film.

But we must say that it is a pure entertainer, and Rajamouli doesn't seem to have enough time to devote to the story and the screenplay. He only seems to concentrate on the Yamalokam scenes to the neglect of the theme. Anyway, if you can leave your mind back at home, which you should always do when you go to watch a Telugu film, it will entertain. If not, perish the thought of watching the film.

DON'T GET IN RAJENDRA PRASAD'S WAY. HE IS THE QUICK GUN MURUGAN ON THE PROWL

Talking about Rambha, who stole the thunder from under the feet of Sri Devi, literally (she has inherited her thunder thighs title, from Sri Devi) has bagged the role of a heroine in a Rajendra Prasad film. Now, before you ask: Rajendra Prasad who? Let us explain that the comedy hero of yesteryear, who has been struggling to hold on to the Telugu film industry with his Uncle Sam roles, has been booked for a bilingual film Quick Gun Murugan. He will appear as a cowherd or cow boy or cowdung, whatever it may be, and try his best to make you laugh. And Rambha would provide the sensuous elements in the movie. So it is gonna be a riotous mix of sensuality and laughter. Will it do the trick for the Aa okkatee adakku pair?

She's hot. She's sexy. She's Rambha. She still has the figure that makes the people drool over her asking for more, but unfortunately, the south Indian filmmakers think that she is past her prime. And are not even touching her with a barge pole. Poor Rambha, tried everything to make a comeback in the Telugu film industry. But none of them would work. Meanwhile, she's blazing a trail in Bhojpuri film industry, but hasn't lost hope yet. So, Tollywood filmmakers have decided to give her one more chance. No, not as a heroine, she can't even dream of being a heroine anymore. They want to cash in on her assets, which are no less than Mumaith Khan's, and cast her as an item girl. Now, that is a good bargain for the buxom babe, to oooooooooooooooze her ooooooooooomph on the silver screen. In fact, she gets to shed all those clothes, which she is yearning to, and make a sexy impact on the minds of the people. So, right now, she is busy shooting with Junior in Yamadonga, in the item number we told you about, and we hear she has been setting the studio on fire with her gorgeous curves. Now, that would be a right mix in an NTR film to give the kicks to his fans.

WHY DO K RAGHAVENDRA RAO'S FILMS HAVE THE HERO THROWING FRUITS ON THE HEROINE'S NAVEL?

Director K Raghavendra Rao is called for an interview with the censors regarding his new film Grapes, Oranges and Bananas.

CENSORS: Mr Raghavendra Rao, this is about your new films, Grapes, Oranges and Bananas. You call it an educational film, what does it teach?

RAGHAVENDRA RAO: Human Anatomy, sir. Human Anatomy. Everytime our hero playfully hits the heroine with a grape or an orange or a banana, the audiences are so engrossed with the navel that they are forced to know a thing or two about it. And soon their curiosity will be roused and they will enquire about the other parts of the body like stomach, hips, heart, lungs, etc. This way they will be thoroughly informed about the anatomy of the whole body.

CENSORS (zapped): ?????

RAGHAVENDRA RAO: If you are still not convinced, ask the audiences and they will tell you the exact dimensions of the navels of the actresses who worked with me -- from Jayasudha to Genelia, including Sri Devi, Jayaprada, Ramyakrishna, Rambha, Nagma, Radha, Vijayashanti, Raasi, Ravali, Deepti Bhatnagar, and even Meenakshi Sheshadri.

CENSORS (recover from their shock): But, what if any of the heroine gets hurt or dies in the fruits throwing binge?

RAGHAVENDRA RAO: Then they will learn about death, sir. They benefit one way or the other. And in the process the audiences get to have some lusty entertainment too. It is for no reason that heroines make a beeline to my house. And audiences love to watch my films.

Nagma & Rambha are making waves in the north!!

They made waves when they were acting in Tollywood. And they had a host of films in their kitty with the top heroes of the Telugu film industry -- Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, Balakrishna, Chiranjeevi and even Junior NTR. We are talking about the buxom Nagma and the bubbly Rambha. They faded into oblivion once they played their part. Or, rather after putting on those extra kilos round their weight, they were show the door. She has found new pastures in the north. And has been doing extremely well there. Following in the footsteps of Nagma, she has entered the Bhojpuri film industry, and both of them are today the queen bees of Bhojwood. Now, you must be asking me what Bhojwood is. I will offer you a little gyan. Bhojpuri is a dialect of Hindi spoken in the hinterlands of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. And Bhojpuri films are the major source of entertainment for the locals there. Not wanting to twiddle her thumbs after playing her innings in Tollywood, Nagma headed straight to Bhojwood and did some amazing films there. So much so that she is the most sought after heroine of Bhojpuri film industry. She has acted with almost all the top heroes there and has some stupendous hits to her credit. Especially Panditji Batai, one of her Bhojpuri films, was a runaway success. Later, she acted in another film called Ganga, which is topping the charts. Not just Nagma, even Hema Malini and Amitabh Bachchan too played guest roles in Ganga. Predictably, it is the most talked about film there today. Not to be left behind, her contemporary, Rambha, too who has entered Bhojwood recently, has become the darling of the masses with her debut film Banke Bihari MLA. And she is doing another film with one of the top heroes, Ravi Kissen, which Bhojwood observers say is going to be a smash hit. Given the glamour and oomph they exude on the screen, no wonder filmmakers are lining up to make them lucrative offers. And, for the moment, they are making the most of their glory. Why not?
