DID JAIL AUTHORITIES SHOOT OBJECTIONABLE PHOTOGRAPHS OF MONICA BEDI?

Accusing the jail authorities of allegedly clicking "objectionable" photographs of former Bollywood actress and gangster Abu Salem's companion Monica Bedi, during her stay in the prison, Madhya Pradesh Congress on Friday sought the resignation of Jail Minister Antar Singh Arya and demanded action against the erring officials.

"Objectionable photographs of Monica Bedi were clicked through secret cameras installed in bathrooms at the Central Jail here, where she was staying while being tried in a fake passport case," State Congress Spokesman Manak Agrawal alleged.

"The photographs were used to prepare indecent MMS of Bedi and circulated," he said making public some MMS before reporters which he claimed to have acquired from a jail official.

The cameras were removed from the jail after her counsel P C Vedi had raised the issue, Agrawal claimed.

Calling for a probe into the matter, while promising to make available all the evidence related to the indecent act, Agrawal demanded the resignation of Arya besides action against officials involved in the episode.

However, Central Jail Superintendent Purshottam Somkunwar described the allegations as "totally baseless". The cameras were never installed in any of the women's cell in the jail premises, he said.

"The purported MMS may be generated through 'trick photography', he said, adding a high-level probe into the allegations will make things absolutely clear.

Citing seven such weddings which have taken place in foreign locations, such as Sunway Lagoon and the Palace of the Golden Horses in Malayasia recently, he adds, "Everyone is trying to outdo each other. With the property and stock boom, India has seen new generation of millionaires coming up and the lavishness that they indulge in weddings are just mind-blowing."

Gone are the days when great weddings were the ones to be held at some five-star hotel with baratis trooping in fanning Rs 10 bundles, points out wedding organisers and industry experts.

The police have registered an FIR against a six-year-old boy, his father and four others for allegedly abducting a 10 year old from Karanpur village in Muzaffarpur district. Confirming this, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Tirhut Range) Gupteshwar Pandey said the six year old, named Guddu and the older boy, Ashok Kumar, had gone to a village on July one to meet their relatives.

Guddu returned home the same night, while Ashok was allegedly kidnapped. Ashok's father Kishori Bhagat then moved a court here which ordered the police to register a case against Guddu, his father Mahesh Bhagat and four others, Pandey said, adding he had asked superintendent of police Ratna Sanjay to inquire into the case.

Believe it or not. A three-year-old boy was allegedly involved in various heinous crimes, including rioting and attempt to murder, in Bihar's Katihar district, according to police in Katihar.
Raj Kumar Jha alias Raju, of Nawabganj village under Manihari police station, has been booked under Sections
307 (Attempt to Murder), 323 (Voluntarily causing hurt), 349 (Use of force) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of IPC and Arms Act after a clash between two communities on January 30.
Two groups had clashed over the route of a religious procession leading to intervention by the police, which fired in the air to disperse the warring factions. Police claimed they too were fired upon by the crowd.
Raju's father Raj Narayan, who runs a PCO, said he had tried to get the case against the infant revoked but failed.
Officer in-charge of Manihari police station S N Singh said Raju's name has been included among the accused
apparently by mistake.
"How can a toddler (Raju was aged around two years at the time of the incident) engage in rioting?" he himself wondered and said probably it was due to the similarity in the names of the father and the son which led to the error.
When contacted, Superintendent of Police Anil Kishore Yadav said he had instructed a Deputy Superintendent
of Police to look into the matter and submit a report. "Appropriate action will be taken once the report is received."
A few months ago, a similar flutter had been caused when a six-year-old was accused of outraging the modesty of a woman and had approach a Patna court for bail. The case against him was discharged by the court..
