Bhumika's career may not be exactly going great guns in the Telugu film industry, but we must say that she is donning too many hats these days. She has her legs in so many film industries, that we wonder how this dame is able to juggle her dates. Consider this, she is doing a film in Punjabi, called, Yaariyean, which sounds more like Tamil than Punjabi. Then she is starring in a Hindi film produced by Anil Kapoor, called Gandhi -- My Father, to be followed again by another Hindi film Benaam. As if this is not enough, she has done a Bhojpuri film called Gangotri. And in Tollywood, her Satyabhama is ready for release, and she is acting in three more films -- Anasuya, a cute romantic story with Jagapati Babu and she is also acting in another comedy.

But she gives the Telugu film industry its due. "I work a lot in south as I get my creative satisfaction there." And she also says the guys in the south are professional, and wouldn't mind throwing you out if you throw nakhras.

One good thing about all her films she has in her kitty right now have a tremendous scope to excel. You never know she might even bag a national award for any of her films under shooting. Good going Bhumika, keep it up.

MEERA JASMINE SAYS SHE IS NOT ACTING IN TELUGU FILMS, CHANGES HER MIND AND DECIDES TO PLAY SECOND FIDDLE

Only a couple of weeks back, Meera Jasmine bid goodbye to the Tamil and Telugu film industries and said she was happy doing films in her mother tongue, that is Malayalam. But, don't know what happened, the girl who claimed that she wasn't interested in doing films in these two languages, suddenly signed two films. Yesterday, we told you how she is acting as Rajasekhar's sister in a new film, and now comes the news that she is acting opposite Sivaji in a film to be produced by the makers of Satyabhama. Wonder, how their memory can be so weak so as to forget the vows they have taken. Or is it just a case of sour grapes? Anyway each to his own. Coming to the film, it will be directed by Raja Vannem Reddy. And the film will go on sets in August. And before she can rejoice, there is another heroine in the film, and she is yet to be finalised. Hope Jasmine won't be relegated to the second heroine status and the other Meera steal the limelight.

BHUMIKA GETS ANOTHER CENTRAL ROLE IN ANASUYA: WILL SHE BE ABLE TO WORK THE MISSAMMA MAGIC?

Bhumika Chawla has done some wonderful roles in Tollywood. And she will be remembered for her immensely popular role in and as Missamma. Her histrionics were not only brilliant but also well received by the Telugu audiences. No wonder, she got a similar role in Satyabhama, which is slated for release now. Even before it could hit the screens, Bhumika has been cast in another woman-oriented role Anasuya. The director claims that the character has a lot of potential to tap the still hidden talent of Bhumika. He says it will bring out the best in Bhumika, and wants us to believe that it would definitely be a wonder on Telugu cinema. The shooting of the film is presently on in Hyderabad. The other actors in the film include Abbas and Nikhita.

BHUMIKA BAGS ANOTHER ROLE A LA MISSAMMA: THIS TIME SHE IS CALLED ANASUYA

Bhoomika is one of the few actresses who can carry a film on her own shoulders. And Missamma not only displayed her histrionic talents to the hilt, but also opened the floodgates of accolades for her. Not just Missamma. One should see her scenes with Telangana Shakuntala and Prakash Raj in Okkadu egging them on to grovel in their madness. The way she makes both of them bite the dust with her stinging words and with the simplest of feelings is ample proof of the tonnes of talent she is endowed with. Presently, she is busy with Satyabhama, a role she says would be remembered forever like Missamma. Even before the film can be completed, now she is offered another heroine-oriented role, Anasuya, by director Ravi Babu. Anoushka plays the second lead in the film, which got underway on Monday in Hyderabad. Let us hope that she Bhoomika blaze a trail with her new role.

Bhoomika brings her boyfriend into the open

A couple of weeks back Bhoomika Chawla has been raving about love with a film scribe. How it is a wonderful feeling, and how nothing can come anywhere near that feeling. Of course, it was meant to keep the scribe guessing whether she is in love or not. That is a subtle way politicians and film stars adopt when they want to tell something to the world. And, naturally, taking the cue from Bhoomika, he did what only a journalist can do: have the answer straight from Bhoomika's mouth, whether she was seeing anyone. At least, unlike the Bollywood actresses, she did not bullshit the fact saying that we are just 'best friends'. The Missamma actress said that she was indeed seeing someone and made no bones about it. And, she said that she would reveal his name "when the time comes". That is another way of building up expectation around the love affair. Expectedly, she brought him out into the open. And the occasion was the audio release function of her latest film Satyabhama on Monday. She walked into the function with her hands tucked into her beaus's, and as both of them walked into the arena, all eyes were fixed on them. Her beau, Bharat Thakur, we are told is a yoga exponent and a hotelier in Goa. And it looks that he not only taught her yoga, but the finer intricacies of love too! Talking later, Bhoomika said, "Today I am very happy. As Bharat is with me, my happiness is doubled." Well, Bhoomika, it's unfair to give your fans a hearbreak! Well fans, for now you can only see the photograph and admire Bhoomika's beau the way your've admired her.

Rare temple of Lord Krishna to be revived at Sullurpet

A rare 11th century shrine, where Lord Krishna is believed to have fought Jambavantha for the Syamantakamani, has been lying in a dilapidated condition for years.

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Trust is now planning to release Rs 25 lakh for its renovation. The shrine, located at Mannar Polur village, about 2 km from Sullurpet town in Nellore district, is known as Sri Alagu Mallaru Krishna Swamy temple. It is believed to have been built by emperors of the Chola dynasty in the 11th century AD, but is now just a pale shadow of its former glorious self. Its tall and majestic statues are now preys to the vagaries of weather. The temple tank (Pushkarini) located in front of the main shrine is also in a pitiable condition. The meagre revenue is not even enough for conducting daily rituals.

"It had remained closed for decades and it was my father Venkata Raghavachary who took the initiative to reopen it in 1957," said the priest of the temple, V C V Muralikrishna.

The shrine is one among the 108 Divya Tirupati temples blessed by Panniddalvaru, a great Vaishnava devotee. There are references to the shrine and the locale in the Brahmanda Purana which says that Lord Krishna, who came in search of the Syamanthakamani, wrestled with Jambavantha here for 21 days before defeating him.

A giant statue of Jamabavantha guards the rear of the temple, and this gives more credence to the legend.

The main idol of Lord Krishna is accompanied by Satyabhama and Jambavathi instead of Goddess Rukmini, unlike in other shrines.

There is also an interesting idol of a sad-looking Garuda, with folded hands and tearful eyes, in front of the main deity. Local people narrate a legend in connection with this peculiar statue.

According to lore, Lord Krishna wanted to teach the proud Garuda a lesson and sent him to summon Hanuman from the forest. However, Hanuman refuses to accompany him and a fight ensues in which Garuda is defeated. A humiliated Garuda realises that he had been inordinately proud and assumes a contrite demeanour.

There are also big statues of Sugreeva and Jatayu in the premises. This is probably the only shrine where such statues could be found.

However, authorities have not cared to take care of the rare shrine. Nobody knows what happened to the hundreds of acres donated to the temple by kings. "We are struggling to conduct the annual Asthanotsavam and the procession of the deity on the day of Vaikunta Ekadasi," said Muralikrishna. The priest also does not get salary regularly but conducts pujas because of his devotion.
