YAMAGOLA MALLI MODALAYYINDI FOR THE PRODUCER: HE MAY HAVE ONLY NIGHTMARES LEFT AFTER THE RELEASE OF THE FILM

They have taken on a huge task to recreate the magic of Yamagola, the legendary film of the late 70s that is still etched in the memory of the audiences. And at a time when NTR's grandson has already started his own film on the same theme Yamadonga. But the makers of Yamagola Malli Modalayyindi are hopeful that Venu and Srikanth in the company of Meera Jasmine and Reema Jasmine are going to walk away with the accolades. But the sad truth is that all of the four without exception are either struggling to make their presence felt or like Meera Jasmine and Reema Sen are out of the industry for good. Given this, only a miracle can save the film from keeping afloat in the competition of Yamadonga. And Srinivasa Reddy neither has the spark nor the wit to boot to make it a comedy adventure. Give this, even before the release of the film, its fate is hanging in the balance. What say Srinivasa Reddy?

Bhukailas give low brow cinema a boost

There is good news for comedians aspiring to become heroes. Bhukailas is a pretty good film made on a not-so-lean budget. And it has all the ingredients that you would look forward into a big heroes films, like Nagarjuna, Junior NTR, Mahesh Babu, Chiranjeevi, Venkatesh, Allu Arjun, Siddharth, Prabhas and the like: sentimental drama, item song, and dollops of laughter. Of course, not all the laughter is aesthetic. But, in the recent past, when was comedy clean anyway? The film is made on the premise that there is an audience which is low brow and for whom no films are being made. In Tollywood parlance, it is called B and C centres' crowd. To put it simply, it is the multiplex culture in the reverse. And with the increasing wealth quotient even among the lower classes, they are looking forward to films they can identify with. And so this spoof on the rise and rise of real estate in the state addresses their concerns. Venu Madhav plays his role to the hilt as the guy who has it all and who loses it all, only to find fulfilment in his roots. Watch it if you don't have anything better to do.

JUST FOR LAUGHS

The scene took place in Hyderabad. The producer of a low-budget film is trying to convince the newly-hired director of the quality of the work by telling him the big names they've gotten for the cast.
"First of all," he tells him, "We've got Kalyan in the lead."
The director is surprised, "You got Pavan Kalyan?"
"Well, no," the producer responds, "We got Kalyan Mohan, he's a distant cousin who lives in Tirupati, but he's very up and coming. And besides, we've also got Junior."
"You got Junior NTR?" the director asks.
"No, we got Junior Venu Madhav, but he's very talented and has lots of acting experience from years of stage appearances as mimicry artiste." "But," he says enthusiastically, "we've got Aishwarya, and that too in a singing role."
"Aishwarya Rai?" he asks.
"No, Aishwarya, the former heroine," the producer responds. "But she's got a great voice. And we've got Babu."
By this time, the director is not surprised any more, and decides to go in for the least of the popular names.
"You got Mohan Babu?" the director asks.
"Yeah," the producer replies glumly, "we got Mohan Babu."
