Emraan Hashmi is tired of kissing, wants to send shivers down the audience's spine. Are you game for it?

With the release of Awaarapan, Emraan Hashmi has apparently broken out of his typecast playboy, lover image and is now looking out for roles that are somewhat different ranging from horror, to fantasy and the realm of magic.

"I love horror and apparently it is a genre that has not been explored much in India. Maybe it is a risky thing to do, perhaps, that is why, I do not know," says the actor.

The 27-year-old, who began his career with the film Footpath, had become known in the industry for his roles involving kissing scenes, particularly in the movie Murder with co-star Mallika Sherawat.

One of the upcoming movies of this Mumbai-based actor is a thriller, the sequel to the Bhatt movie Raaz, starring Dino Morea and Bipasha Basu.

"People want to see something new and something more," says Hashmi. Typecast as a serial kisser and a playboy the actor seems to have finally come of age with his latest Mahesh Bhatt flick Awarapan, where he plays a gangster who helps free a Pakistani girl from the clutches of human trafficking.

Sporting straggly hair and an unshaven look, the film also sees the actor depart from his earlier clean shaven and a chocolate boy image.

Hashmi plays the role of a bookie in the upcoming movie Jannat, whose script revolves around the sudden and mystery-filled death of Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer during the World Cup. Another film that Emraan is working on is a yet to be untitiled comedy by Feroz Nadiawala.

HANSIKA MOTWANI DOES A BRAVE ACT, SAVES A SLUM FROM GETTING BURNT DOWN

Hansika Motwani, who wowed Telugu audiences with her debut opposite Allu Arjun in the Puri Jagannadh film, Desamuduru, has a social conscience. And she is proud of it. Recently, while she was at home saying her prayers on the terrace, she noticed flames coming from hut nearby. Immediately, the actor started screaming on the top of her voice to alert the hutdwellers. Although initially they started wondering what was wrong with the lady, they soon realised the gravity of the situation and sprung into action to put off the flames. Not content with just alerting the poor, she even took up the phone and dialled the fire brigade, who rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

Incidentally, Hansika made her debut in Hindi too with the Himesh Reshammiya starrer Aap Ka Surroor and even got more mileage than the sex kitten Mallika Sherawat. We hear that people are raving about her performance in the film, and the girl too is quite happy for having chosen Aap Ka surroor as her launch vehicle. Let's hope more Bollywood offers come her way.

Meanwhile, in Tollywood, she is chosen as the leading lady opposite junior NTR in a film to be produced by the Student No 1 producer Ashwini Dutt, and directed by a novice.

SHANKARDADA GETS READY TO WOW AUDIENCES ONCE AGAIN WITH HIS SEQUEL: WILL IT BE ZINDABAD ALL THE WAY FOR CHIRANJEEVI?

Shankardada Zindabad, starring Chiranjeevi as the goon-turned-Gandhian, has completed the shooting of its songs in Australia. The audio will be released in the first week of July, that is in a week from now, according to music director Devisri Prasad. Karishma Kotak, who is playing the lead role of a Radio Jockey, in place of Vidya Balan, has some impressive curves and curves to show in this film, we hear. But, one thing we can say for sure. She may have the oomph of a Mallika Sherawat, but she doesn't have the charisma of Vidya Balan. Let's wait and see how she will fare, it is just a matter of time. The film is a remake of Lage Raho Munnabhai, which wowed audiences the world over.

Mallika Sherawat gets Rs 1.5 crore for an item song

Like it or leave it, Mallika Sherawat is the new sex bomb of the country. Now I hear whispers: what is there in that woman to command so much attention? She neither has the killer looks nor the oomph to floor with the audiences. Come on, give the lady her due. Even we are wondering what has shot her to the stratosphere in Bollywood, that she refuses to climb down. If she wants it, she gets it. Just about anything. For now, we are talking about the remuneration. Believe it or not, she has recently charged the desperately-trying-to-make-it-big-as-a-hero singer Himesh Reshamiiya...Rs...don't fall down after I say it...Rs one crore fifty lakhs for his film Aap Kaa Surroor. Can you beat that? Even the likes of Aishwarya Rai and Preeti Zinta don't get that kind of money for an item song. All this for an item song? Baap re? What else do you think Ms Sherawat is worth? Reshammiya has bought the rights of the song. Sources in the industry attribute the phenomal surge in her remuneration to her signing the Hollywood flick Unveiled.
