ILLEANA IS REALLY GOING PLACES: TAKING BABY STEPS TO BOLLYWOOD

Tollywood has become the launch pad to Bollywood, especially for the heroines. In recent times, it started with Bhumika Chawla notching up a couple of some real good Bollywood films. Following in her footsteps, Asin is making her debut in the Hindi remake of Gazni. Sada, too, is busy shooting with Shreyas Talpade for a Sangeet Sivan film called Click, and she has another one, Love Game, in the pipeline with Randeep Hooda. Before we can actually exclaim, "Wow, the Tollywood babes are really going places", here comes the news that Illeana has signed a Bollywood flick opposite Shiney Ahuja.

Illeana shares her delightful news with us.

ON HER DEBUT IN BOLLYWOOD
Finally, I’ve made it to Bollywood. I have never been overzealous about my entry there. For me, the storyline is what matters and not the industry. But now since it’s happening, I’m only too happy.

ON HOW SHE SEES HERSELF IN BOLLYWOOD VIS-A-VIS OTHER HEROINES
I’m content with what I have. If others are also following suit, I’m happy for them too.

ON HER ITSY-BITSY ROLE IN POKIRI
Pokiri was Mahesh Babu’s film. So, there was no power struggle for me. I enjoyed shooting for it, liked working with Mahesh, and I am tremendously happy about it’s box-office success. And, unlike Mahesh, who seldom talks and is an introvert, I had a whale of time constantly chatting and having masti on the sets.

ON HER 'SERENDIPITOUS ACCIDENT' IN TOLLYWOOD
At 16, I was offered Dhairyam, a Telugu film, but it didn’t happen due to certain reasons. Later, Raima Sen did this film with Nitin.

ON WHAT FILM GAVE HER THE BEST SATISFACTION IN RECENT TIMES
I’m really proud about my film Rakhi. I feel I have given my best in the film.

ON WHAT TOPS HER PRIORITY LIST
The most vital thing in this world is unconditional love, which only family members can give. And without my small family, I’m no one.

ON WHAT SHE DOES WHEN NOT SHOOTING
I love catching up on films on DVD or reading a Sidney Sheldon.

SUNIL'S NUDE SCENE IN AATA IS A DIRECT LIFT FROM MR BEAN

Diretor Vijayabhaskar is not the only to rip off some scenes from the hilarious English comedy, Mr Bean, to deck up the role of Brahmanandam in Nuvvu Naaku Nachav. For Aata, even V N Aditya has stolen some scenes from the English comedy, especially the nude scene where Sunil's brother-in-law pulls of his towel and Sunil desperately tries to hide himself from the people as his room gets locked inadvertently. This scene is a direct lift from one of the episodes of Mr Bean.

HAS MAHESH BABU SIGNED A THREE-FILM DEAL WITH UTV FOR RS 15 CRORE?

Looks like there is too much money and too few avenues of investment in India. Which is why the big business houses have entered the entertainment segment like never before. And this has not only benefitted the audiences but also boosted the revenues of actors. Today, we hear that UTV has signed a three-film deal with Mahesh Babu, the star who is raising eyebrows in the Telugu film industry with the rollicking success of Pokiri. With this Mahesh Babu becomes the first actor in the south to sign a mega deal and the highest paid actor.

For starters, UTV has produced films like Rang De Basanti, Life in a... Metro, Khosla Ka Ghosla and has a major stake in television channels like Hungama, Disney's kids channel.

After its successful entry into the entertainment sector, especially in Bollywood, it is ready to spread its wings to the south. What more, with the kind of global response Rajnikanth starrer Sivaji: the boss has received, it has reinforced their resolve to take the long journey to the South Indian film industries like Tamil and Telugu sooner than later. Already Adlabs has made films in Tamil, and has announced plans to invest in Tollywood. Do we hear the young directors sing, Happy Days Are Here Again?

DID YOUR HEAR? BLOGOSPHERE IS AGOG WITH RUMOURS THAT ILLEANA HAS HAD AN ABORTION

Illeana is in the thick of gossip. God only knows where it has emanated from. The blogosphere is agog with rumours that the 19-year-old dame has become pregnant, and had got aborted recently in a Hyderabad hospital. Frankly speaking, we don't have a clue about. And we don't want to jump to conclusions that the dame has been ditched by a Tollywood dude. The accusing fingers point to Tollywood filmmakers / actors, naturally, as the lanky lass has been working mostly in Tollywood of late, where she has been scaling new heights. And adding grist to the rumours, the gossip mills claim that is recovering in Mumbai from the after-effects of her abortion. As we said, we don't know the truth of this allegation against her. And we only hope it is not true. If, by chance, the news is right, who could the dude be? Any guesses?

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO THE DIRECTORS TO RUN AFTER YOU, RAM?

Some guys have all the luck in the world. For them, everything falls into place without the least bit of effort. It's just that they should learn how to channelise that luck in the proper direction. And life is a bed of roses. Take Ram for instance. He got his first break with Devadas, with Illeana, which began a craze, giving Ram and Illeana more than a toehold in the industry. But, an intelligent Ram signed only one movie after that -- Jagadam. And it flopped because of great expectations not only from Ram, but also from the director Sukumaran. But, still, Ram seems to be the blue-eyed boy of the Telugu filmmakers. So much so, that despite the flop show, he has four directors rooting for him. And, let me tell you once again, all of them are in the top shot directors -- Srinu Vaitla, Y V S Choudary, Sravanti Ravi Kishore and Teja. Even the top heroes in the Telugu film industry can't boast of such a portfolio. Wah Ram, wah!

Bhaskar's next film is with Allu Arjun

All eyes are on director Bhaskar's next move. And wouldn't they be when he has delivered a huge hit called Bommarillu that rattled the superstars? Bhaskar proved, with Bommarillu, what a new director is capable of doing if only he has the right producer backing him. And now that he has delivered a hit, it is no secret that every hero worth his salt has started singing paeans of him and his film. However, he has finally decided to do his next film with Allu Arjun or should we say Dil Raju? Whoever it may, it makes no difference. Because the film will be produced by Dil Raju and Allu Arjun is playing the lead. So, should we hope for another blockbuster from Bhaskar?
