POLISH GIRL COMES TO DO RESEARSH ON MAHIMA CULT IN ORISSA, FALLS IN LOVE WITH SAMBHALPURI LANGUAGE, AND IS SINGING ALL THE WAY!!

A Polish girl, who came here for research on the Mahima cult, has ended up becoming a folk singer in the Sambalpuri langugage.
Lidia Guzy, researcher from the Free University in Berlin, who frequently visited Orissa to study 'Sociology of Religions' and 'Tribal Religions' developed an interest in Sambalpuri folk music and ended up singing them.
She has been studying Orissa's folk music and the Mahima cult since 2003, said Surendra Kumar Sahu, her local guide. Sahu, a local folk artist has also contributed in the album by Guzy.
Though she has left for Germany till September-October, Guzy's supporters yesterday released a Sambalpuri dialet music album which comprises seven songs in her voice. The music album was officially released by Orissa's Transport minister Jaynarayan Mishra in Sambalpur.
The album titled-- Bandhar Kain Phul (Lily of the Pond) was selected by the singer herslf who can speak Oriya besides her mother tongue Polish, German, English and Spanish.
Dr Keshraj Pradhan, who assisted Guzy in collecting folk songs and traditional attires of tribals in the western region of the state, said besides the Sambalpuri album, Guzy had written several books and articles in international journals.
Guzy was guided by Deepak Behera, a professor in sociology in Sambalpur University.
